For each one, we asked owners to tell us if their car had suffered a fault in the previous 24 months, how much it cost to fix and how long their car was off the road. Models with the least costly faults that were quick and easy to fix get a higher score than those that were afflicted with lots of expensive issues that left them out of action for more than a week.
