New Jersey will temporarily pause its rebate program for the purchase or lease of electric vehicles due to the overwhelming success of the program.

New Jersey is putting the brakes on their government rebate program for residents looking to buy or lease an electric vehicle.

The program has been operating for three years and provides state residents up to $4,000 right when they buy or lease a new electric vehicle. On average, EVs now cost more than $58,000, according to Kelley Blue Book.The program is expected to be back up and running again once the new fiscal year starts July 1.
