According to the strategy, there are six expected outcomes — a greater choice of EVs, a reduction in transport emissions, increasing ease of charging EVs nationally, an increase in local manufacturing and recycling of materials, making EVs more affordable and making it cheaper for people to run their vehicles.

There are no scientific data that demonstrate EV being greener than petrol or diesel cars. Here are the facts
Foolish to import more EV's without building the infrastructure. At best EV's can serve dual purpose of storing solar energy and powering the house at night time, given the solar rebates and buy backs are non-existent.
Implement it. Show us the results of the aspirations.

Until someone can show me an analysis of the benefits of an EV vs a modern 4cyl turbo diesel, including mining & transport of raw materials, manufacture, charging costs, battery life & disposal & safety that clearly shows a benefit to the driver & planet I’ll call this a scam.

Somehow I feel as if my taxes are about to be used to 'increase affordability' of EVs.
And the second hand market? Will there be one? Without it, a good chunk of the population simply won't have a car
Need to look beyond cars if we want livable cities, especially given high rates of pop growth. Also, EV subsidies are wasteful from both an environmental and equity standpoint, as they tend to go to people who already have relatively new/efficient ICE cars.
China is selling them from $13k new and can't get rid of them.
