"Now we have achieved 43% greenery, and 50% can be achieved nationwide, including in Sabah and Sarawak, because every year we have to plant 20 million trees and since it was launched in January 2021, and until Dec 31 last year it has reached 27 million. He said this in a press conference of the ‘Mesra Rakyat Keluarga Malaysia’ programme for Central Zone at Sungai Tinggi multipurpose hall in Sungai Kerang, near Terong on Tuesday .

Takiyuddin said that for this year, his ministry was expected to reach the target of planting 36 million trees, and needed another four million to be planted within the next six months until the end of December this year. "I urge the public to plant trees at all mosques and institutions of higher learning, so that the target of 50% greenery in the country can be achieved,” he said. - Bernama
