Ontario Premier Doug Ford demands federal tariffs of 100% on Chinese EVs

Ontario Premier Doug Ford is publicly calling on the federal government “to immediately match or exceed U.S. tariffs on Chinese imports, including at least a 100-per-cent tariff on Chinese electric vehicles.”His post came less than one month after U.S.

Flavio Volpe, head of the Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association, has been pleading for the same and essentially calls Canada’s response to date not very neighbourly. Neither Mary Ng, federal minister of export promotion, international trade, nor her representatives were immediately available for comment.
