TORONTO — Some of the most active companies traded Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange: Toronto Stock Exchange (22,346.76, down 121.40 points): Enbridge Inc. (TSX:ENB). Energy. Down eight cents, or 0.16 per cent, to $50.12 on 15.9 million shares.

Toronto Stock Exchange :Suncor Energy Inc. . Energy. Down 60 cents, or 1.07 per cent, to $55.43 on 9.3 million shares.

Manulife Financial Corp. . Finance. Down two cents, or 0.06 per cent, to $35.98 on 8.0 million shares.Cenovus Energy Inc. . Energy. Down 30 cents, or 1.09 per cent, to $27.36 on 5.7 million shares.Companies in the news: CAE Inc. . Aerospace and defense. Down $1.33, or 4.92 per cent, to $25.73. CAE Inc. expects to report a half-billion-dollar loss for its fourth quarter after massive one-time charges linked to its beleaguered defence business. The flight simulator maker announced a $568-million"goodwill impairment" for the segment on Wednesday. It also reported a $36-million writedown of intangible assets and $90 million in unfavourable contract adjustments tied to fixed-price defence contracts.

Héroux-Devtek Inc. . Aerospace and defense. Up $1.61, or 7.69 per cent, to $22.56. Global strife has boosted demand for Héroux-Devtek Inc. wares, with the continued rebound in commercial travel adding to its record sales last quarter, said CEO Martin Brassard. Defence sales rose slightly from last year to $108.2 million in the company's fourth quarter.
