More details continue to emerge about the security lapses that allowed the attempted assassination, including that the building the shooter perched upon was being used as a police tactical team staging area, and three local police snipersreported that an officer did see the suspected shooter—20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks—carrying a range finder and"scoping out" the roof, but he was still able to scale the building and get onto the roof through an air conditioning unit.
