Alaska needs more energy and lots of it, according to Governor Dunleavy’s speech at the Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Tuesday.

“This is the future,” Dunleavy said. “You’re going to need everything from nukes to wind to gas to geothermal and solar panels.” A main reason for this growing need, he said, has to do with the ballooning growth of technology. Server farms process an immense amount of power, and super computers can require as much as 30 megawatts. That’s close to the energy needs of an entire city.
