“We cannot outsource our energy needs to our foreign adversaries. We’ve got to maintain energy independence,” said Cameron, now CEO of the 1792 Exchange. “It’s hard to run a tractor on a battery. I’m in a state in the commonwealth of Kentucky where we are the seventh largest generator of coal in the country, and because of that, we have some of the lowest cost and most reliable energy in the nation.

He added, “When the Biden administration or when hedge fund managers or asset managers tell you they want to destroy the fossil fuels industry by 2030 or 2050, my ears perked up because that is trying to destroy the competitive advantage of Kentucky.”as top Republican in the Senate at the end of this year and has not announced his plans for reelection in 2026. Though Cameron ran an unsuccessful campaign for Kentucky governor last year, we asked if he has a congressional seat on his mind.

“What I often tell people is that obviously, you know, my wife and I will bank on this, this question and pray about it,” Cameron said. “But at the end of the day, we just want to continue to be the hands and feet of Christ and to help our commonwealth higher where we can.”
