Lagos State Government has pledged to mobilise resources at an unprecedented scale to finance the transition to a low-carbon economy as well as support the most vulnerable on the impacts of climate change.

Permanent Secretary, Office of Drainage Services, Mahamood Adegbite ; Lagos State former Commissioner for the Environment, Dr Muiz Banire; former governor of the state, Babatunde Fashola ; Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat; Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, and Permanent Secretary, Office of Environmental Services, Gaji Omobolaji, during the 10th edition of the yearly Lagos International Climate Change Summit in Lagos… yesterday.

They spoke, yesterday, during the opening ceremony of the 10th Lagos International Climate Change Summit, with the theme: “Accelerating Climate Finance and Championing Local Adaptation Initiatives” in Lagos. Wahab said the state would commit funds on a large scale to finance the transition to a low-carbon economy, as well as protect the most vulnerable from the impacts of climate change.

A fresh twist has been introduced to the agitation for an additional state in the South East, as the people of Isuochi, in Umunneochi Local Council of Abia State, have rejected the proposed creation of an Orlu State, insisting on the creation of Etiti State.
