Multiple officials within the organization assure the public that they are prepared to experience the spike as San Antonio continues to reach record high Heat Index numbers. CPS emphasized that they believe that the addition of resources, such as the 50 megawatts of energy storage and 84 megawatts of additional wind energy, will provide an adequate foundation for the city battling extreme temperatures.
President and CEO of CPS Energy, Rudy Garza, "All of this is just another example of us having a plan and executing that plan over the long term. Being ready to support, what is, the fastest growing community in the country, get ready for the summer. Our plants are ready, our crews are ready." The company will utilize their internal meteorologist to strategize their approach to energy management throughout the summer.
