Cadillac still plans to offer an all-electric range in 2030, but it could coexist with gasoline-powered models. Auto123 has more.

In 2021, Cadillac promised an all-electric lineup by 2030. Recently, while attending an event concerning one of the brand's models, we received a somewhat different sound bite.

The difference is that the move away from gasoline engines may be slower and more measured than previously planned. In other words, in 2030, it’s likely that both types of powertrain will coexist under the Cadillac banner. This was confirmed to members of the media by brand manager John Roth.

European Electric Vehicle Sales Expected to Fall Short of ExpectationsAccording to investment bank UBS, Europeans are projected to buy almost nine million fewer electric vehicles between 2024 and 2030 due to high prices, insufficient range, and inconvenient recharging. However, UBS still believes that electric vehicles will eventually become the dominant powertrain choice after 2030. The European Union may also consider extending the deadline for all new car sales to be electric by 2035. Electric car sales in Europe and the U.S. have been struggling, leading major automakers like Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes, GM, and Ford to revise their ambitious targets. UBS has revised its forecast for European EV sales to 8.3 million in 2030, down from its previous estimate of 9.6 million. On the other hand, investment researcher Jefferies predicts that EV sales in Europe will increase from about 2 million in 2023 to 8.9 million in 2030, capturing a market share of 65% compared to 16%.
