A spokeswoman for Chevron, the country’s largest holder of gas resources, said the company was committed to maintaining the gas production for its Gorgon and Wheatstone gas facilities. Former WA resources minister Bill Johnston last week confirmed he had written to the federal government last year, when he was still minister, suggesting the commonwealth deny a handful of retention licences.
