SAN ANTONIO - Good news for San Antonio! The city was awarded $2.5 million to improve its natural gas pipes. CPS Energy has been awarded $2.5 million from the PHMSA's newly formed Natural Gas Distribution Infrastructure Safety and Modernization program. This program exclusively supports local gas utilities in upgrading or replacing aging pipelines.

The grant will be used to replace over three miles of steel gas pipeline in the western area of San Antonio. These new pipes will be safer, more reliable, and better for the environment. Mayor Ron Nirenberg, American Public Gas Association President & CEO Dave Schryver, and Linda Daugherty, Deputy Associate Administrator of the U.S. Department of Transportation's Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration will gather at CPS Energy headquarters to talk about the grant for the city's natural gas infrastructure.
