Millions of households are expecting to pay less for their energy usage between now and the end of June now that the new price cap is in place. The drop of 12.3 per cent means those on the standard tariff, with typical average usage, will see annual energy bills fall from £1,928 to £1,690 - a saving of £238 over the coming year.
Stephen said: “A ‘typical’ household who pays their bills via Direct Debit is expected to see the cost of their gas and electricity reduced by around £18-20 a month. It’s not massive, but it is likely to be welcomed by many. The biggest savings will be seen from appliances that have higher energy consumption though, such as fridge freezers - now set to cost £54 less a year to run, dishwashers , and washing machines .
