Skoda’s new sub-£40k Elroq EV has been spotted testing, offering an early glimpse of the car ahead of its official launch in autumn this year. The Skoda Elroq will be the mid-tier option between the existing Skoda Enyaq and the upcoming, budget-friendly Epiq city-SUV, taking on rivals such as the Volvo EX30, Hyundai Kona Electric and MG 4. It is expected to be priced between £30,000 and £35,000. The new EV will be a mid-sized crossover based on VW’s MEB platform.
Skoda's Elroq will run similar batteries to many of its VW Group platform mates, including VW and Cupra, with 58kWh or 82kWh options expected, but because it will be slightly smaller and lighter, it could be expected to boost maximum range to north of the Enyaq’s 350-mile official maximum. The Enyaq also has rapid charging functionality, which means it needs just 35 minutes to get from 10 to 80% capacity, which is expected to carry across to the Elroq.
