Kean said he would take a pragmatic approach to nuclear power, when asked if he thought it played a role in a net-zero emissions future. Kean was elected as the member for Hornsby, in Sydney’s north, in the Coalition’s 2011 landslide election win.He made his name after being appointed by former premier Gladys Berejiklian to the environment portfolio, before being handed responsibility for energy and climate. He then served as state treasurer and deputy Liberal leader until the Coalition’s 2023 election defeat.
