The electric company informed board members and the public that the transmission line rebuild is a planned “upgrade” of the electric company and includes efforts by Northern Powerline Constructors. Julie Hasquet, the communications manager at Chugach Electric, says the current line is over six decades old and in need of improvements, with some areas dealing with corrosion.
Hasquet said this is critical infrastructure that brings power to various areas such as the Kenai Peninsula, Cooper Landing, Moose Pass, Hope, Girdwood and Indian.
