Penfield, N.Y. — The sound of 100 hammers echoed throughout Penfield Friday, as volunteers participated in a "Framing Frenzy.", helps build two new homes for families within the program. "They are going to walk in that house for the first time, and they are going to get to say the word "mine." says Matthew J. Flanigan the CEO of Greater Rochester Habitat for Humanity. "We know communities, when they come together and help build homes it changes the trajectory for the kids who are raised in that house, they have better graduation rates, and they have more community involvement. It's a powerful win, win, win.
Volunteers and executives from Constellation Energy, spent the day building the frames for the houses before they are moved to their permanent locations at Garson Avenue and Melville Street."I think one word that comes to mind is "love," says Tarlisha. "Love for other people, love for the community and just to help people that you don't know. Love is the word that comes off the top of my head right now. I will be a homeowner.
