Lithium-ion batteries used in modern solar systems and electric vehicles can last over 15 years and still have plenty of use after consuming their rated life cycles, as long as they are treated according to their specifications.

The first point to clarify is that there is a distinction between the depth-of-discharge rate and a cycle. Reputed battery companies will always consider a cycle to be a complete 100% discharging and recharging course. Modern EV batteries typically have at least 1,000 cycles before dropping to 80% capacity, in worst-case scenarios.
