It’s unclear when CBU formally submitted the proposal. The Chronicle Herald asked for further details regarding the proposal but none were provided. Lenore Parsley, a spokesperson for the university, said the project was pitched by a team at CBU under the leadership of president David C. Dingwall and project lead Kent Macintyre.

Houston said that the status quo wasn’t an option. The feasibility study would include consulting with CBRM, he said. “For the past seven years, we’ve heard from community advocates insisting the importance of rail not only for future projects but also for existing business ventures that are here in the CBRM.
