The race to launch an orbiting solar power plant into space is heating up, with the US and the UK both in the running. UK startup Space Solar anticipates that a demonstration model of their device will be orbiting within the next three years, beaming solar energy down to Earth 24/7.
This technology could also be applied to remote EV charging.

U.S. Electric Grids Prepare for Decline in Solar Generation During Solar EclipseElectric grids across the U.S. are anticipating a rapid decline in solar generation during Monday's total solar eclipse. The eclipse is forecast to pass Texas and cause solar power generation to dip to roughly 8% of its maximum output at its peak.
