The electric SUV is being recalled over door handles that can become stuck

Fisker is recalling 12,523 Ocean EVs over faulty door handles. The handles can become stuck due to a malfunctioning mechanism. The company will inspect the handles and replace any ones that don’t check out. Fisker is effectively dead, but owners are still facing an ocean of trouble. That’s clear once again as the company is recalling 12,523 crossovers in Europe and North America. The recall impacts 2023 and 2024 Ocean EVs, and involves an “issue” with the outer door handles.

Any handles not meeting “safety and operational standards” will be replaced as part of the recall. Fisker estimates that only around 2.5% of Oceans have defective handles, but noted they decided to conduct a voluntary recall to “ensure the safety and accessibility of the vehicle for its passengers.” Transport Canada and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration are said to be in the process of posting recall notices to their websites, so we can expect to learn more shortly.
