The guy who invented the electric hypercar, bought Bugatti, and is launching a Croatian auto industry presents: the little, limo-like, robo-taxi that could.

German author Franz Born once dubbed Jules Verne as “the man who invented the future.” That future has slowly but surely been coming true, from skyscrapers, to moving sidewalks, to submarines, to rockets traveling faster than the speed of sound.

Adriano Mudri explains: “The data shows that nine out of ten rides are used by one or two people. Therefore, we can satisfy most trips with a two-seater and create unmatched interior space in a compact-sized vehicle with more space than a Rolls-Royce.” In pictures it looks VW Golf-sized, but dimensions put it closer to a Jaguar E-Pace. It’s 1.9 inches wider, a half-inch taller, and the cargo area holds 23.4 cubic feet—1 more than the Jag.

There’s literally nothing for a belted occupant to hit in a frontal crash, but there are “knee airbags” that look like a curtain bag deploying from the cross-car beam. These keep occupants’ legs down to prevent them rising enough to contact the head. Without a steering wheel or dash close by, the shoulder belts are programmed to allow more forward motion/less bruising restraint.

That battery is expected to last 14 to 17 hours in urban use, and to recharge in 30 minutes. This allows complete isolation of the body. Steel is the predominant material, though many body panels are composite and the huge doors are aluminum to ease the workload of their power sliding mechanisms. All Vernes will be painted a tranquil blue with a pearlescent, rather than metallic sheen to allow the hidden radar units to penetrate.
