One fact about climate change is that it’s primarily caused by burning fossil fuels for power and transportation.

With this month’s heatwaves, wildfires and storms, climate change is making headlines but paradoxically not the list of election-year issues. Top voters’ concerns include the economy and immigration - certainly important, but arguably not as serious as climate change, which is already killing millions worldwide.

Meanwhile, the GOP continues to blame Biden for everything from inflation, driven by corporate greed that’s reinforced by GOP tax breaks, to immigration that could have been addressed months ago had the Republican-led Congress not opposed the bipartisan bill. If blame is the name of the game, then climate change can be blamed on conservatives who have fought against climate action for decades – a consequence of lobbying by their oil and gas industry donors.

But this assignment of culpability can only be seen through the lens of facts and evidence, something conservatives seem loath to accept these days.
