The Montgomery County Commission has unveiled eight new electric vehicle chargers at Montgomery Whitewater, with the help of some other groups.

The project is a joint effort between the county, Alabama Power, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama, Montgomery Whitewater and the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs.Funding was provided by a $461,700.00 grant from ADECA’s Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Program along with matching funds from Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama and Alabama Power. No county funds were used for this project.

“Montgomery County is proud to officially open these eight new charging ports,” Montgomery County Commission Chairman Doug Singleton said. “Thanks to the hard work by our Grants Department and generous funding from ADECA, Alabama Power and Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama, we can provide this additional amenity for our residents and visitors. These new stations are already bringing new visitors off the interstate to explore all Montgomery Whitewater Park has to offer.
