A struggling mum who is too afraid to use her oven due to spiralling energy costs has hit out at Prime Minister Rishi Sunak during a heated ITV general election debate

A struggling mum has candidly opened up about the struggles she has faced amid the current cost of living crisis, as she asked Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Labour Party leader Sir Keir Starmer what they intend to do about it. During a tense ITV general election debate on Tuesday evening, both candidates were grilled on a series of subjects that matter most to voters.

In response to the question, Rishi drew attention to several policies the Conservatives had introduced in the past, including the furlough scheme and falling inflation, but failed to deliver on a clear pledge about what he could do to help lessen the burden she was currently experiencing. Unwilling to be defeated, Mr.Sunak quickly clapped back and argued:”I know how much of a strain the last few years have put on family finances. And that's why my priority has always been to do what I can to support you. That started with bold action, like the furlough scheme during the pandemic, and more recently, my clear plan to bring inflation back to normal.”
