A meteorologist in Austin, Texas said the hailstones appeared to be “cantaloupe sized” at more than six inches in diameter ” measuring up to six inches in diameter as extreme storms in the area damaged homes, blocked roads and brought down trees.

Chikage Windler, a meteorologist in Austin, said the hailstone was “not too far off” the 6.4in state record set in 2021 in Hondo.
