Gardens officials say the tours are appropriate for Arbor Day, and that there is no shortage of shrubbery and trees to admire.is celebrating Arbor Day this weekend by providing special tours of its vast number of tree species and scenic areas.
The tours run Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and include walks through spots such as the Arboretum and Japanese Garden, with trees ranging from local varieties to Redwoods from California. Gardens officials say the tours are appropriate for Arbor Day, and that there is no shortage of shrubbery and trees to admire.
"We have over 1,200 different types of different trees in the garden and hundreds of varieties and cultivars of trees," said Alyssa Hagerman, the horticultural manager at Hershey Gardens."As well as some early spring blooming plants, azaleas, and even some of the trees are blooming, including the dogwoods and redbuds.""Planting trees is really important, especially on Arbor Day, but every day is a good day to plant a tree," Hagerman said.
