There's been a lot of debate in recent days about bushfires and questioning the influence of climate change, but what do scientists have to say?

It is widely acknowledged that fire weather is becoming more common as the climate warms, but what about the fires burning now?

"Basically what we do is look at an extreme, define it — so how long the event has gone for and how intense it's been — then use physical model simulations with and without climate change included to see if we can detect whether or not that event now occurs more often due to climate change," she said.

"Generally speaking, there hasn't been a lot of hazard-reduction work in places like NSW this spring because the fire season was declared early."David Bowman, a professor of pyrogeography and fire science at the University of Tasmania, said it was important that media commentary didn't unnecessarily sow seeds of doubt in the community regarding the quality and concern of fire management agencies.

"I freely acknowledge that among ecologists there is concern and debate about the ecological effects of fuel management.

'We are now in uncharted territory,' he said. 'We've gone over the one-million-hectare mark at least for the forests and the plants in the eastern part of NSW - this is unprecedented.' FYI - 1'000'000 ha = 10'000 km2 Fires 1939 burned double that.

ABC churns out heavily editorialized 'Climate Change Causes Bushfires' stories Article quotes Perkins-Kirkpatrick, a climate change scientist, as an objective source. This isn't news, it's ideological opportunism raping a tragedy, all to advance Socialism ClimateHoax theirabc

'climate change' is hooey

Ps : let’s not con- fuse conservation with global - hoax ; ones true & one isn’t . Nothing wrong with cleaning house . But if dirty , it won’t fall down .

The other disturbing ‘factor !’ Is the separating of humans through consumerism & tech from their inherent knowledge of the earth & nature ; a destroying of the faith in nature knowing how to balance it self. Food for thought .

Many people have the onion peeling ability of a sixth grader (this is on purpose by the dumbing down of education) Silly billies think ( not thinking? that 25 years is a long time cos their life -span is only 80 years. They forget that time is much much more ancient .

Now ! Is the ABC reporting news & info? Don’t think so . Seems far more like a political position to me . Even if this fire was worse than ones in 1994 & 2001, so what ? 20-25 years is not even a blink in the ebb & flow of infinity .

How about instead of pushing propaganda the ABC provides debate? 'My ABC'? No!

Meanwhile, here's more news TheirABC won't tell you about …

'I nearly fell off my chair when Binna Burra Lodge got burnt down,' I guess the writer of the article didn't get the memo, the fire was lit by a couple of local brats and allegedly it was an accident. Does climate change cause stupidity in young people? No. ClimateHysteria

Talk of not being disingenuous and nothing said about accidental fires and pyromania. Unbelievable.

Quote... “Dr Bowman said funding needed to be directed towards preventative burning as a priority, as emergency response funding was now.” ... So how about less BS and more fuel reduction ? Just get ‘er done.

You left out David Packham's opinion.

Please stop rubbing yourself on Twitter ABC, its embarrassing & please clean your Sticky Keys, your'e disgusting.

Leftards, they're all the same …

Again, another near-miss from the ABC and their academic contributors who failed to mention what proportion of fires in this event were lit by humans. It's pointless to talk about secondary factors that lead to fire behaviour AFTER arson or accidental fires.

I think it's Greta's fault. She's in charge of climate, why hasn't she fixed it yet?
