To mark the 1000th issue of Hot Press magazine the President spoke about climate change

President Michael D Higgins has hit out at climate change deniers as well as highlighting the dangers posed by populists who use nationalism to further their aims.

He deems said Donald Trump’s decision to pull America out of the Paris Agreement was “regressive and pernicious” and highlights the absurdity and recklessness of climate change denial. President Higgins also questions some of the tactics being used by those involved in the Extinction Rebellion. “In responding to climate change, you have to be able to see the necessary connections between new forms of economy, social cohesion and climate
