James Cook University has appealed a Federal Circuit Court decision that found it had unlawfully sacked an academic who criticised the university's climate change science.
A fundraising campaign was launched to support physics professor Peter Ridd, with the case expected to go all the way to the High Court. It comes after Dr Ridd was awarded $1.2 million in compensation earlier this month after winning an unfair dismissal case against his former employer. Mr Ridd told Sky News the case shows universities "are trying to stop" academic debate on climate climate.
I think as a tax payer we should have a right to pull funding. This nothing more than people trying to stop debate. Also the head of the uni should be sacked for letting get this far.
JCU is fast becoming a bad joke rabidgreenlunaticleftcircus
Why would anyone want to be a student, or lecturer/researcher, at such a dumb university as James Cook ?
James Cook University should man up and say we were WRONG
Why should tax payers pay for the appeal
Despite having no case, there's no downside for JCU: the taxpayer will fund their appeal, and will pony up again if the court increases the fine, which it may well do. I doubt that the high court will view this deep-pocket bullying in a positive light.
Tax payers money used buy the University Hmm ? To defend the unlawfully sacking of Peter Ridd. PS: On The Bolt Report on Sky at 7pm: the scandal of the Ridd sacking deepens.
Defund this low ranking ‘university’ and give it TAFE status. It’s everything a uni shouldn’t be.
Hmmm! Some people just can’t concede to the obvious..!eh?
