Energy Minister Angus Taylor has confirmed that his predecessor Josh Frydenberg knew about his family interest in a farm that was being investigated for alleged illegal land clearing when he met with officials to discuss environmental regulations.on Sunday that he had told Mr Frydenberg – then the Turnbull government's environment and energy minister – about his interest in the property before meeting with bureaucrats.

The 2017 meeting was attended by Mr Taylor, environment department officials and a representatives of Mr Frydenberg's office.Mr Taylor's brother is a director of Jam Land Pty Ltd, while the Minister himself holds an interest in the firm via his family investment company, Gufee. Mr Frydenberg asked his department whether he had the power to water down federal protections for the grasslands – and if any change had to be published – after Mr Taylor met with his office.

Labor's environment spokeswoman Terri Butler said Mr Frydenberg, now Treasurer in the Morrison government, "must now come clean on when he knew about Taylor’s interests in the property" and set the record straight on "what he knew about Jam Land, and when".
