KOTA KINABALU: The Race for Water (R4W) Foundation, whose vessel is currently docked here for an awareness campaign on ocean pollution caused by plastic waste, is keen to work with Sabah on its proposed 'plastic waste to energy' project.

Race for Water Foundation Plastic Waste to Energy Projects specialist Camille Rollin on board onboard the foundation's vessel currently docked in Kota Kinabalu.

“As we mentioned before, we have a prototype of the converter machine in Paris, France but we are looking at coastal cities such as Kota Kinabalu, or even an island like Pulau Gaya, as a model. She said the idea was to run a"proof of concept" in Kota Kinabalu, with a trial period of 12 to 18 months via rental agreement of the machine.“If we manage to finalise the decision to try it out, and the trial period reaches the goals intended, then we expect a commitment to purchase such machines at lower prices, maybe even up to half, ” she explained, adding that the Foundation will follow-up on the proposal after leaving Sabah on Tuesday .
