made by prominent economist Jomo Kwame Sundaram today, there is actually no issues of political will by the Pakatan Harapan government in setting the right tone via policies to promote the uptake of renewable energy.
In October 2018, Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change Minister Yeo Bee Yin announced the new Net Energy Metering policy, where excess electricity generated by rooftop solar installations injected back to the grid will offset the intake from TNB on one-to-one basis, making the proposition of installing rooftop solar far more financially attractive. This is arguably the most progressive solar policy in South East Asia.
These policies have not only been attractive to the private sector, but even local governments in Johor, Penang and Selangor have actively pursued solar installations. The government has also introduced the Green Technology Financing Scheme 2.0 where qualified applicants are given a two-percent interest rate subsidy for seven years and 60 percent loan guarantee, making renewable energy projects more bankable and attractive to banks.
NATO ? Look at Philippines and Singapore today !They already achieved and plan well ahead in this !!! Where is our achievement ? Just those scattered here and there project (White elephant) without a sustainable master plan ? All are political !!! Where are those policies ?
Try to talk to the bank if they are willing to finance the project with the current proposed tariff?
Just see how far they can go..
Who say, what green energy all talk and no action. Try call tnb they will refer you to Holland. The minister talk so much about it.
