Energy companies will soon be forced to lower wholesale prices and guarantee supply under the Coalition government's re-energised 'big stick' divestment laws.
The Energy Minister had been forced to suspend the laws earlier this year, but Angus Taylor has confirmed to The Australian that the legislation will be a priority when parliament returns. Some energy bosses hoped the proposal had been ditched after it failed to pass in March, describing it as ‘draconian’. Parliament is expected to return in the first week of July.
