A man involved in a serious electric scooter accident in Brisbane has died in hospital in what is believed to be the first e-scooter fatality in Australia.Lime scooters says the scooter did not malfunction and its helmets meet national standardsHead injuries are the biggest risk for people falling off scooters
The 50-year-old man suffered critical head and facial injuries after crashing his e-scooter at South Bank.He was found just after midnight on Wednesday, with a passer-by performing CPR until paramedics arrived. The man was rushed to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, and a hospital spokeswoman confirmed his death on Thursday afternoon.Lime's director of government affairs, Mitchell Price, offered his condolences to the man's family.
"We are truly saddened by this news, and we extend our sincerest thoughts and prayers to the man's family," he said.
Sad. Did he have heart attack before crash?
Ahhh it was good whilst it lasted
This is an awful tragedy. Before everyone gets hysterical and wants to ban the scooters, can we get number on motor fatalities to put it into perspective?
Why are Lime scooters held to a different standard to cycle manufacturers? Some idiot falls off a bike and it isn't suddenly assumed to be the bike's makers fault, so why Lime scooters? Some personal accountability goes a long way.
I had a terrible accident on an electric bike that I discovered did not have adequate brakes. A year later and still recovering from a concussion and full body internal damage. They were not in the slightest interested.
. Make it compulsory to have a special license for riding these and compulsory insurance. Too many accidents etc.
