Food prices and energy bills have rocketed in recent years as the UK economy struggled under a Tory Government at Westminster.

More than half of Scots have admitted to losing sleep over money worries due to the cost of living, a poll has found on the eve of the general election.

The figure was highest in Glasgow North East, where 55 per cent of respondents admitted to sleeplessness over financial concerns. "Whoever our next Prime Minister is, whoever is elected throughout Scotland, their first thought must be for the millions of people who have been left in such dire financial straits that they’re losing sleep, worrying about how they’re going to feed their kids or keep the roof over their heads.
