SPANISH company BlueFloat Energy is eyeing to put its offshore wind expertise at the service of the nascent offshore wind industry in the Philippines to help realize the potential of the country, thus contributing to its green transition.

In an exclusive interview with The Manila Times, Carlos Martin, chief executive at BlueFloat Energy, outlined why the Philippines could potentially become a key growth market in its own right and an offshore wind fabrication hub for the region. As the whole world continues to progress toward decarbonization, offshore wind has become a main renewable technology in the transition toward zero emissions.

There is an opportunity for creating a new industry in the country, tapping into the projects already planned in the Philippines, but also serving the demands of other offshore wind projects to be built in the wider APAC region,' said Martin.'It's very interesting to see markets like the Philippines embrace this technology because in Europe, the game is more to replace existing power generation with renewables,' Martin said.
