Extinction Rebellion: Hundreds of officers sent to help Met with protests

Hundreds of officers have been sent from around the country to help with London's Extinction Rebellion protests, Met Commissioner Cressida Dick said.Oxford Circus has reopened to traffic after officers cleared protesters but they continue to occupy Waterloo Bridge and Parliament Square. She said:"I have never - I've been a police officer for 36 years - I have never known an operation, a single operation, in which over 700 people have been arrested.

Ms Dick added she was grateful for the help from hundreds of police officers drafted in from several forces, including the neighbouring City of London Police.

There is a big difference between a protest and civil disobedience. On Tuesday, they want to block Parliament so MPs can't get in...... How the hell are they supposed to meet protester's somewhat unachievable (2025) demands if they cant get in to debate it.

Send in the Army

The spawn of Swampy will be back at uni on Tuesday

Waste of money

Hmm no officers for street crime for normal folk, but plenty of resources when the establishment is threatened

Didn't they arrive after it was all over? If so, perhaps the protestors were tipped off given how, at least it seems from news reports, some of the police appeared more happy to join in rather than restore any order. Has not looked good on the Met police.

deluded tree huggers!

Round them up, drop them on Skye & tell them to walk home

Just thought, universities are closed, students got nothing to do, so, outcome, let's play silly buggers and disrupt the country, wonder what they'll think when they are trying to get jobs in the future and they stupid behaviour comes back to haunt them

This protest was the best few days I have had in London for ages, Waterloo bridge was a delight to stand on, no traffic no noise, just tranquil. Hope they do this a lot more, sod the establishment, it's thieving politicians and its tax avoiding paymasters. Well done to ER.

Just imagine if these THUGS acted like decent People on Easter Sunday. The Police Officers could have stayed Home with their Kids doing Easter Sunday stuff, but NO! The THUGS had to harass BULLY & cause untold trouble for decent People, who DO want a normal Easter Sunday Holiday

Making hay.

All we need now is a drone or the suspicion of one and the country is shutdown. Elites have lost the will to lead our country. Vote for Brexit Party and empty the swamp

I thought the MET had 10,000 Police to Stop Brexiteers? What happened to this resource?

One could almost believe that the world as we know it is about to go under...

Standing on the same spot for hours doing absolutely nothing, as I witnessed yesterday.

What are the police protesting about now?

FIGHT ON

Little square bails, how quaint.

Any chance of a Bank Holiday Monday pot plant sale when Waterloo Bridge is cleared?

I hope these extinction rebellion organisers realise that any crime committed in London in which police couldn't respond is their fault. I say arrest everyone and fine them £5,000.

Extinction rebellion is a met police activist group. 🤡🤡InsideJob

what a waste of police time when the force is already thin
