Alberta’s grizzly bears could be headed towards increased interactions and conflicts with humans as one of their staple food sources may soon be off the menu due to climate change.

“We can expect to see them at times and in places where we’re not used to seeing them. I think it could be argued that we’re already witnessing that,” McDermid said in a statement. The change in the berries’ peak fruiting season will leave the bruins with less time to forage for their “most important caloric food source” before hibernation, Laskin said, leading bears “into places where they wouldn’t normally go” and “places where they might get themselves into trouble.”

Related “There is a relationship between when berries are out and people having encounters with bears … The conflict season may adjust a little earlier,” Titchener said.

Canada's climate change sideshow - Macleans.caMatt Gurney: Canadians are stuck watching a debate between a party with no plan and a party with a plan that won’t work. All the while China keeps building coal plants. Gen IV nuclear... that’s the future if you aren’t talking that you don’t care about the future Companies don't care about the carbon tax IMO. The cost gets passed to the consumer. NS Power has a monopoly and hikes it's rates anytime they incur higher cost. Big business does just fine. If they weren't none of these policies would be implemented. Lobbyist would stop it. really Macleans? Matt Gurney? this is the same 'what about' bullshit that has kept us from addressing climate change far too long fucking grow up
