With several neighborhoods included in these projects, some residents are going to see a major upgrade.

) - This check couldn’t have come at a better time for the City of Pensacola as it looks to upgrade the infrastructure in several parts of the Pensacola Energy coverage area. It’s all thanks to the Natural Gas Distribution Infrastructure Safety and Modernization Grant Program which runs through the U.S.

Project Greenhut Court which includes areas near Mobile Highway. And Project Peachtree Park which includes several areas in downtown were two of the 130 nationwide projects that have been chosen so far this year. Thanks to this funding, these areas will have their steel pipes replaced with new polyethylene pipes.

Darryl Singleton with Pensacola Energy says this grant takes a 10–15-year project and makes it a 5-year project to replace pipes that have been in place since the 50s and 60s.
