For the first time ever, electric cars outsold gas and diesel vehicles in Norway, accounting for nearly 60% of all vehicle sales last month

Norway is a leader in the adoption of zero-emission vehicles and the government has set an ambitious goal to stop selling new gas and diesel passenger cars and vans by 2025.In March, 18,375 new cars were registered in the country and 10,732 of those were zero-emission vehicles, according to Norway's Road Traffic Information Council, or OFV. That's more double the number of zero-emission vehicles sold in March 2018.Telsa's Model 3 led the charge.

Zero-emission cars don't pay the 25% Value Added Tax and are exempt from Norway's carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide and weight taxes imposed on gas and diesel vehicles. They also get discounts on parking, toll roads and ferries.

Is there a way to keep this from the President so we don’t have to hear about the imagined side effects from electric cars this weekend from Don Quixote?

oluwaloninyo Get ready to fry akara and masa with our crude oil soon

KevinlyFather Yas. Waiting to buy one myself. We have to make this happen so everywhere.

This is bad news for the planet if it gets worldwide! Why doesn't anyone say that the electricity you put inside your 'green' car is made mostly by burning fossil fuels? Now, I don't know about Norway's state of the art in renewable energy sources but what if it gets to China?

Wait till the batteries die 50 miles from home 😂 but if you turn off the lights heaters radio etc you might get to 40 miles 😂

They don't have auto unions and strong ties to oil natuons.

It will never happen in the USA. In the foeceable future

Yeh, gas, is around $7.00 a gallon.

Living in Stavanger, Norway for several months, they are people who truly cares about each other and safety.. Beautiful, Happy Country!..

Nice

The history of the world is nothing but the biography of men who went against the norm...elonmusk ..over to u for the next phase..it's almost time..let's go electric cleanenergyTesla

The total population in Norway is 5.2 million people. And commutes are short drives. Plus the government there is all but financially forcing them to buy electric cars..with taxes and incentives...and high fuel costs. CNN makes it seem it's their choice...it's pushed on them.

Trump is trying to revive coal ... take that Norway

Tesla will be targeting that market!! *Tesla get to work*

Just about anything will sell well if you stack the deck against the competition by forcing poor and middle class people to subsidize purchases of specific products by the wealthy. I'm not sure how anyone could consider this a good thing.

😂😂😂backwards😂😂😂

And they r still powered by power plants that burn coal

Listen up ConocoPhillips and rest of the destructive petroleum-chemical industry. Handwriting is on the wall. Your day is done.

NorwayUN NATO spend the car subsidy on NATO. America cannot subsidize your Tesla.

Time to get some plates for my Roomba...

They are paying people to buy them. BIG subsidies = tax on others. That which you subsidize you get more of. That which you tax you get less of. EC can't make it on their own.

Wait until all those batteries need replacement...gonna be super expensive 😂😂😂

Another funny thing is that Norwegians don't buy as many cars and there is a very high tax. I suspect as usual CNN is only providing half the story!

Where do they get their electricity from?

Not a good sign for the goat-shagger then.

I love the technology but hope people look beyond the skin. Electric cars use up to 5 times the copper of a gas car, and guess where that copper comes from. Power plants will eventually need to produce more power, and were does that waste go. Then their are the batteries...

Fine go to Norway

They’re an all white country. Democrats always point to all white countries to push their social platforms. Kind of weird tbh.

That's gonna get Big Oil's attention.

Very good Norway.

A rapidly growing industry I must say.

Lol.. Lets look at the population size... So.. They sold 2 more?

if you can afford to live in Scandinavia, you can for sure afford a Tesla :p

كيف تتعامل النرويج مع احتياج الشحن كل 3 ساعات للسيارات؟

Norway though.

Yet Tesla is still doing terrible. Hate to see it.

Could really boast the economy. But Eskom can't even deliver a reliable electricity supply. Maybe we don't deserve it. Electric cars subsidized by oil money, ironic. Funny that oil revenues.... pay for subsidise of electric cars. Not really a good example of a fair market place.

Would love to see a breakdown of electric energy sources in Norway. Wind? Fossil? Hydro? I appreciate their leadership.
