Climate change arrives in ‘the era of pandemic potential’

Four years after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, scientists and health experts are anticipating what may come next, particularly as the effects of climate change are poised to increase the spread and scope of infectious diseases.

Now, researchers are linking the impacts of a warming world to antimicrobial resistance, which occurs when bacteria and other germs are no longer treatable with antibiotics.
