The stock market traded at session lows with about two hours left in regular trade Wednesday afternoon. There appeared to be no direct catalyst for the late-session pullback from intraday peaks but declines in the S&P 500 index's energy sector, down by 1.1%, and a sharp slump in aeronautics and defense contractor Boeing Co. BA, -1.50% were among the factors offsetting some of the buying optimism that had helped to push shares up at the start of the day's action.
