Dundee FC,Scottish Premiership,Scottish Championship

The Scottish Championship leaders took the chance to have a pop at their city rivals over their Dens Park on-going issues.

Rangers were in Tayside once again for their rearranged Scottish Premiership clash but will need to make a THIRD trip next week after the pitch failed a second pitch inspection. Don Robertson was happy to go ahead in the initial 11am check but following a further look at 3.30pm, he decided the park was not fit for purpose.

Jim Goodwin and his Scottish Championship leaders play at their Tannadice home just YARDS down the road and they've been out training on their grass surface ahead of a big league clash at Morton on Friday night. They are in pole position for a return to the top flight and with preparations well underway in a bid to ramp up further pressure on Raith Rovers, they couldn't resit a pop at their colleagues down the road.

Sharing training snaps from today, the club captioned the post: "The perfect climate for #MORUTD fine-tuning." It comes as a nod to Dundee secretary Eric Drysdale's interview in the wake of the call-off in which he blamed climate change for the on-going issues. He told Sky Sports: "I can understand people are annoyed and are looking at this as being Dundee's fault. What I would say is that from the research we've done, this year's rainfall is 35 per cent higher than the last 10 years' average. That shows the effect climate change is having on it. It appears we need to do urgently more work on the Dens Park pitch and we're absolutely up for doing that in the summer.

Dundee and Rangers are now scheduled to play on Wednesday night next week. The match will still kick-off at 8pm and be live in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
