Hundreds of people have been fined with safety breaches using electric scooters since they were introduced in Brisbane last year, the Queensland Government says.Police have fined about 300 people since December for e-scooter non-compliance, with the majority of riders caught without a helmet
The Brisbane City Council is currently considering tenders for two companies to run electric scooters in Brisbane Figures also show more than 120 people were taken to hospital with injuries related to scooter use in the first two months since they were introduced in Brisbane. "Users must travel at a safe speed to ensure they can stop to avoid collisions — doubling up on a device is also not permitted."
The things are popular. End of story
WHY? Seriously. A cheap easy way to move around and let’s fine ppl. Maybe we should get back in our Petrol cars and sit at traffic lights. We should be embracing new technology NOT discouraging it
What a waste of QldPolice time and resources. Seriously are these people really criminals we should focus on? Nannystate
nannynation nannystate landoflegislation legislationonsteroids So dissapointed with Stupid laws.. seriously police should fine criminals
It's not just the scooter riders at risk. I've seen some pretty dangerous weaving around pedestrians on some very busy Brisbane streets. The city council continues to fail to build the infrastructure needed to keep all road and footpath users safe. Team_Quirk
Nice that brisbanecityqld was willing to give it a go but I think the joke is over now.
