Radebe: We are pursuing an oil deal with South Sudan and it's all above board | Fin24

SA is pursuing an oil deal with South Sudan to manage fluctuating oil prices, Energy Minister Jeff Radebe said at a media briefing on Thursday in Cape Town. that stated the energy department was looking to build an oil refinery in South Sudan, a"mystery" deal which could cost $1bn. According to the article, government has already spent R20m in pursuit of the deal, which"raised eyebrows in government circles".

Radebe said the Central Energy Fund's board had distanced itself from the"grossly misleading information". He then confirmed that SA is pursuing an oil deal in South Sudan. Part of the strategy includes drilling for oil locally off the coast of Mossel Bay, relying on shale gas in the Karoo, and sourcing oil from South Sudan.

Fin24 Why build a refinery? Import the crude and refine it locally. We have 3 refineries in Durban and Cape Town

Fin24 Reeeeeeeaaaaaaalllly! You sexting addict you.

Fin24 Only what you want us to hear will be above board. The ANC cannot be trusted.

Fin24 Yet a need to state above board exists. 🤣 No.

Fin24 So tell us how you and your cronies are going to create much needed jobs by this move? Looks more like money laundering scheme.

Fin24 The only think above board is you iron.

Fin24 Radebe: I have zero confidence or trust in this ANC 'leader', whose allegiance is to his party, and NOT SouthAfrica: I simply don't believe anything that comes out of his mouth!

Fin24 We have great faith in the honesty of politicians!!!

Fin24 🤣🤣😅😅😂😎😎😎🙂🤣😎😎

Fin24 😆😆😆... yeah, whatever you say..... ANC and above board... how dare you use those words in the same sentence!!

Fin24 The fact that the ruling party has to stipulate its all above board says alot about past deals and the way they are seen. Its radiculous.

Fin24 Time will tell.

Fin24 I don't trust this guy.

Fin24 MoreToLoot

Fin24 Lol, sho Motsepe

Fin24 Good move Africans should support each other move forward move away from western syndrome we will be number one

Fin24 Shem with his pathetic Lenin cap on!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Fin24 I'm shocked that Jeff Radebe seems shocked that we don't trust anything they do as GovernmentZA after state capture. We should be demanding transparency all the way.

Fin24 If it is above board why is it necessary to say it's above board.

Fin24 Oh this is going to end well 😂

Fin24 Oh really, I wouldnt bet on it.

Fin24 Bwahahaha Above board...
