SunDrive chief executive Vince Allen said on Thursday that the company would explore the opportunity of setting up a plant at AGL’s Hunter Energy Hub.SunDrive, which is advised by Tesla chairwoman Robyn Denholm, is also backed by federal government’s green bank, the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, and by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency.
“This clear action plan from the Government will make innovative, locally manufactured solar technologies more scalable, for Australian manufacturers to meet the energy transition demand,” Mr Griffin said. The feasibility study between the pair will examine infrastructure and engineering requirements for a manufacturing plant, and identify regulatory approvals and licences needed for the project. The partners will also explore a deal for AGL to buy SunDrive panels for AGL customers. AGL has about 600,000 household and business customers with solar.
