Ramokgopa says it will enable the country to transition from an electricity 'monopoly'.

Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa says the passing of the Electricity Regulation Amendment Bill in the National Assembly is a “major, major development of tectonic proportions”.

Ramokgopa emphasised that the bill’s passage signifies the start of remaking South Africa’s energy landscape, adding that it will make producing and selling electricity easier.
